St Mirren lose top spot after surprise home defeat to Dumbarton

St Mirren were knocked off top spot in the Scottish Championship following a 1-0 home defeat to struggling Dumbarton.
Tom Walsh made the vital contribution in the final 10 minutes for Stevie Aitken's men with a buccaneering run and clinical finish past Craig Samson, with Dundee United's 2-1 win over Dunfermline ensuring they took over at the summit.
St Mirren's cause was not helped by the 43rd-minute dismissal of Stelios Demetriou, the Cypriot seeing red for an elbow on Sam Wardrop after Kyle Magennis and Liam Smith had gone close for the hosts.
Walsh was frustrated to hit wide when well placed in the second half, and substitute Ally Roy was crestfallen to find the advertising hoardings when in even more favourable territory, but Walsh's late winner made amends.
