Dundee United ease past Alloa

Championship side Dundee United eased past League One Alloa 2-0 in the William Hill Scottish Cup.
Alloa more than held their own in the first half but United, having hit the woodwork early on through Jamie Robson’s misdirected cross, took the lead just before the interval when Mark Durnan headed in Craig Slater’s corner.
Scott McDonald went close to a second just before the hour mark, denied by a superb point-blank save from Neil Parry, but it came shortly afterwards through Emil Lyng’s first goal for the club.
Substitute Idris Kadded crashed a shot against the crossbar but two goals were enough to see United through to the fifth round.
