Barrow slip closer to the drop zone

Ten-man Gateshead piled more pressure on relegation-threatened Barrow with a 1-1 draw in the Vanarama National League at Holker Street.
The hosts dominated the early exchanges with veteran Grant Holt rattling the crossbar following good link-up play with Luke James, before the latter was denied by Gateshead goalkeeper Jamie Montgomery.
James broke the deadlock in the 19th minute with a calm penalty after the striker was brought down in the area.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men just nine minutes after the restart when Jamal Fyfield received his second yellow card for a late challenge on James.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Jordan Preston grabbed an equaliser 10 minutes from time following a quick counter-attack to leave Barrow just two points above the drop zone.
