Draw with Falkirk ends Dumbarton’s losing streak

Dumbarton ended a four-match losing run in the league by battling to a goalless draw at fellow strugglers Falkirk.
The point did little for Dumbarton as they remain nine points adrift of safety in the Ladbrokes Championship, although it was Falkirk who will feel hard done by after hitting both posts and the bar twice in the opening half.
Craig Sibbald had the game’s first real opportunity after crashing his effort from the edge of the area off the inside of a post in the 12th minute before Reghan Tumilty hit the other post moments later.
Luck conspired against Falkirk once more in the 34th minute as Andrew Nelson’s strike from distance clattered the bar while Sibbald was denied by the woodwork again as half-time approached.
Dumbarton goalkeeper Scott Gallacher did well to deny Nelson in the closing stages, although the visitors missed an opportunity to nick all three points when Mark Stewart failed to follow up on the rebound after Liam Burt’s initial effort had been parried.
