Liverpool transfer news: Xherdan Shaqiri says he wants to play in the Premier League
LIVERPOOL transfer target Xherdan Shaqiri says he wants to play in the Premier League this season.
The Stoke star has been heavily linked with a move away from the Championship side in recent months.
Shaqiri, 26, has been tipped to join Liverpool this summer, while Manchester United have also joined the race for the Switzerland international.
And the forward has opened up on his future, revealing he wants to play in the Premier League this season - and he'll reveal his new club soon.
"I want to stay in the Premier League, and you will find out my new club soon," he said.
Reports today claimed Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of Shaqiri, who was relegated with Stoke last season.
Shaqiri is available for just £12m due to a release clause inserted into the winger's current Stoke contact.
The Switzerland star is seen as possible alternative to Lyon's Nabil Fekir following the France international's failed move to Anfield.
Liverpool discovered a long-term knee problem during the playmaker's medical, resulting in the Reds pulling out of the deal.
Should Liverpool sign Shaqiri, he would become the Reds' third summer signing.
He would follow Fabinho and Naby Keita to Anfield.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to spend big this summer to mount a Premier League title charge this season.
