Michael Cheek scored twice on his return to Braintree as Ebbsfleet made it three on the bounce with a 4-0 win at Cressing Road.
The striker, who played for the Iron for two years before departing in 2017, continued his rich vein of form with his fifth and sixth goals in seven matches to keep Ebbsfleet within touching distance of the top seven.
The visitors were ahead as early as the second minute when Cody McDonald headed in from Jack Payne’s corner.
Cheek opened his account from another set-piece despite the best efforts of the Braintree defence to clear, before adding a second from the penalty spot after Ebou Adams was brought down inside the area.
Corey Whitely back-heeled in the 78th minute to make it 4-0 and a festive haul of 11 goals in three matches for Fleet.
