Hawkes helps Hartlepool see off Wrexham

Wrexham missed the chance to move top of the National League table after they were beaten 1-0 by Hartlepool.
Josh Hawkes scored the only goal of the game for the home side in the 24th minute.
The midfielder was fouled in the area and was fortunate with his penalty as he fired the ball straight at goalkeeper Rob Lainton before it trickled over the line.
Nicky Featherstone cleared an Akil Wright header off the line and Scott Loach denied Kieran Kennedy as Wrexham pushed for an equaliser after the break.
Nicke Kabamba was inches away from connecting with a Hawkes corner at the back post and the latter fired over the crossbar shortly afterwards as Hartlepool did enough to hold on.
