ARSENAL fans went in hysterical overdrive after an Alexandre Lacazette profile page was uncovered on the official Barcelona website.

The striker has been linked with a move to the La Liga champions in recent weeks off the back of an impressive second season in London.

Le 10 Sport says Barca have approached the player's management to assure him of their interest.

But Arsenal are reportedly preparing a bumper new contract for Lacazette and fellow strike partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Although the duo failed to fire the Gunners to a top-four finish, they scored 35 of the club's 73 Premier League goals.

And fans concerned by the rumours linking Lacazette to Barca lost the plot upon seeing a page dedicated to him on the the Catalan giant's website.

"If you didn’t just s**t yourself at the Lacazette > Barcelona rumour I don’t think you’re human," tweeted one Gooner.

"F**k you @Arsenal if you sell Lacazette to F***ing Barcelona. You idiots," raged another fan.

"This would be peak Arsenal to sell Laca to Barca after he won POTY," tweeted a third.

A fourth fan had a more reasoned response, writing: "Surely this is fake news.

"Laca has been getting on well at Arsenal and Barca are close to signing Griezmann."

Indeed Le 10 Sport report claims that Barcelona see Lacazette as an alternative to Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann.

Earlier this week, the former Lyon striker was asked about the rumours.

Speaking to Telefoot, Lacazette simply replied: "It is flattering."

And Arsenal fans can relax, because it has subsequently emerged that Barca's website has hidden profile page for hundreds of past and present players.

Each page can be accessed through the player profile page if you change the URL to their identifying number.

Lacazette’s page was found as ID number 6899, while the very first entry is former Gunners goalkeeper David Seaman.

Other people in the database include Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, as well as former Swansea striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
