Blackpool maintained their 100 per cent start to the Sky Bet League One campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Oxford.
Ryan Edwards’ header and Armand Gnanduillet’s penalty won it for the Seasiders, while Josh Ruffels struck for Oxford before half-time.
The Tangerines made a confident start and went ahead inside five minutes when Edwards nodded home Jordan Thompson’s corner.
The visitors to Bloomfield Road responded in the 20th minute with a Ruffels effort from Chris Cadden’s cross but goalkeeper Jak Alnwick kept Blackpool’s lead intact.
James Henry’s curling effort 10 minutes before half-time was kept out by Alnwick’s superb reflexes, while Ben Woodburn’s long-range attempt rattled the post.
Blackpool won a first-half stoppage time penalty against the run of play when John Mousinho fouled Gnanduillet and the striker coolly slotted into the bottom corner.
Oxofrd pulled a goal back shortly after when Ruffels converted Cadden’s cross.
Jamie Hanson was inches away from a 65th-minute equaliser but his header cannoned off the bar.
