Newport’s search for a league win goes on after draw with Leyton Orient

Newport’s winless run in League Two continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leyton Orient at Rodney Parade.
A first-minute goal by Ruel Sotiriou put the visitors ahead before Padraig Amond equalised for County with nine minutes to go.
The result left the Exiles without a win in nine league games.
Both sides paid tribute to Justin Edinburgh, the former County manager who died in the summer while in charge of Orient.
And when the game got under way it was the visitors who started strongly, with Sotiriou heading in from a Josh Wright free-kick.
Newport dominated possession for the remainder of the first half and came close to equalising when Josh Sheehan’s shot curled just wide of the right post.
Orient’s Dan Happe and Marvin Ekpiteta were given yellow cards for late challenges but the visitors held on to their lead at the interval.
Newport dominated the second half but had to wait until the 81st minute for the equaliser, which came through Amond’s far-post volley.
The Exiles threw the kitchen sink at their visitors in the closing stages but Amond could not connect with a Joss Labadie cross.
