The fifth leg of the 2011/12 America's Cup World Series reached it's conclusion in Venice on Sunday.

Before the event climaxed with a fleet race involving all nine competing yachts, Artemis Racing faced Luna Rossa - Piranha in the match racing final.

It was a repeat of the match racing final at the previous round in Naples and once again Artemis Racing came out on top.

A narrow course lay ahead of the team's in the final fleet race.

Energy Team topped the fleet standings heading into the race - and skipper Loick Peyron found a clear lane to forge ahead on the first downwind leg but Oracle Team USA - Spithill maintained their pursuit of the leaders.

Behind the pace setting duo, the majority of the fleet had trouble separating themselves and a pile-up occurred between one of the turning marks and the nearby shoreline.

Artemis Racing escaped the incident in third place.

Energy Team narrowly held off Oracle Team USA - Spithill to claim the win and finish top of the Venice fleet racing standings.

In their wake, Emirates Team New Zealand came into contact with Artemis Racing at one point and the resulting penalty saw the Kiwi boat finish in fourth place.

Artemis Racing took third, while the rest of the fleet failed to finish within the time limit.
