It is not an everyday sight in London but residents of the capital will have to get used to it soon.

Great Britain's beach volleyball team have been practising in Parliament Square ahead of this summer's Olympic Games.

The athletes will have to become accustomed to playing in historic locations.

Shauna Mullin is looking forward to competing in a purpose built stadium on Horseguards Parade.

"It's amazing. The fact that we have got the best venue for the whole games is amazing for us as players. And also amazing for our sport - a relatively unknown sport in the UK. To give it the best iconic location in London is just amazing."

Mullin will have to wait to see if she will compete alongside partner Zara Dampney.

Denise Johns and Lucy Boulton are also hoping to qualify.

At least one pair is guaranteed a place, but whether both make it won't be decided until June.
