SEA Swimming Championships get underway

    The inaugural Southeast Asian (SEA) Swimming Championships began in Singapore on Monday with start of the men's and women's water polo tournaments.

    Script:

    Water polo took centre stage on day one of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Swimming Championships in Singapore on Monday as the men's and women's tournaments got underway.

    In the day's first game Indonesia's women destroyed a young Philippines team 17-1.

    That game was followed by Thailand's women taking on Malaysia in what turned out to be a much closer contest.

    Thailand captain Claire McCafferty proved to be the hero in the end as her seven goals helped that Thais to a 16-9 win.

    In the men's match hosts Singapore took on Thailand.

    With the home crowd behind them Singapore proved to be took strong for the Thais, Koh Jian Ying scoring a hat-trick as the home team ran out 11-2 winners.
