Japan beat Egypt 3-2 in the 2015 FIVB volleyball men's World Cup at Hiroshima on Tuesday (8 September).

Hosts Japan met Egypt in their first game of the volleyball men's World Cup at Hiroshima on Tuesday.

And their positive attacking approach paid off as they took the opening set 25-19 after 32 minutes.

Egypt battled back in the second set and back-to-back aces from Abdallah Abdalsalam Abdallah Bekhit saw them take a slender lead.

They extended that advantage to three points, only to be clawed back by Japan.

But Egypt showed resilience to take the set 25-23, and level the scores to a set apiece.

There was little to choose between the sides in the third set, but it was to be advantage Japan as they moved 2 sets to 1 up.

The fourth set belonged to Egypt as they eased into a comfortable lead early on and didn't look back.

Japan came out fighting in the fifth, and despite Egypt's call for a time out, they didn't lose momentum, taking the decider 15-7 for a 3-2 win.
