    Samantha Stosur progressed to the quarter-finals of the French Open on Tuesday when the Australian upset sixth seed Simona Halep in straight sets.

    In a match which was played across three days because of rain delays, Stosur began this session 5-3 down at the start, fought back to level the first set at 5-5 and went on to take it 7-6

    There was then another rain delay at 3-2 in the second and despite nearly three hours waiting to restart, Stosur sealed the set 6-3 to secure an impressive straight sets win.

    The world number 24 will play Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova in the semi-final.

    She beat world number two Agnieszka Radwanska's - a player ranked 100 places higher than her

    In another rain affected match Radwanska dramatically lost her way - losing the first ten games of the day. before another delay

    When the players returned Pironkova sealed the third set and take the match 2-6 6-3 6-3
