SOUNDBITE: (English) Venus Williams, lost to Timea Bacsinszky 6-2, 6-4

    (Q. Overall, how satisfied are you with your run here?):

"I mean, I wanted to play better today. The most disappointing part is just not playing well, and that's disappointing. I give credit to my opponent, and it was just a frustrating day of kind of like balls not going in or hitting the net tape, so it's frustrating for me. But, you know, I competed as well as I could out there and she played a smart match. That definitely added to my troubles."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Serena Williams, defeated Elina Svitolina 6-1, 6-1

    (Q. Thoughts on that match overall - just over an hour, seemed pretty straightforward. Do you feel good about your form going into the second week here?):

"Yeah, I feel okay. I feel it was a better match for me. She's a really good player. She gets a lot of balls back, you know. So it was a really, it was really good for me to play that."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Timea Bacsinszky, defeated Venus Williams 6-2, 6-4

    (Q. Just talk about your feeling of getting to quarter-final. Could you talk about the six games in a row in the first set? How did you make that kind of turnaround?):

"Well, first, being in a quarter-final in a slam is like every player's dream. Like some have achieved it way more times than others, but for me it's my third. I still sometimes cannot believe it, especially if you have a great win against such a good player. I mean, she's definitely an inspiration."
