  • World number three Roger Federer is fully fit as he starts his preparations for Wimbledon. The former No.1 had meniscus surgery after losing in the Australian Open semi-finals to Novak Djokovic and then missed the French Open because of a back injury.

"I feel much better again. It's been a good last three weeks. My back is good again. I feel much stronger. I was pretty fragile three weeks ago and that was the reason that I didn't play in Paris. It was much better for me to look forward to the rest of the season and the rest of my life really. I didn't want setback after setback and injure myself further. So, in hindsight, that was definitely the right decision. It wasn't easy. When it finally was official and the people heard about it - it was a little sad then, of course, but I got back on my feet quickly and now I am super excited about playing another tournament. Finally, again, it has been a tough year so it is nice to be here."

"I think the decision itself as slightly tough in the moment that it was official. I have been playing that tournament ever since '98 in the juniors. You look back and you are like 'What this year all of a sudden I am not playing? How is that possible?' I could have kind of played but with the big chances on my health. I was just not prepared to do that at my age. I have to be careful with my decisions. And how I put my body on the line. I want to be 100 percent when I play this big tournaments. Especially these big tournaments. And especially the French Open. It is so physical. I haven't watched much of the French Open. I have been too busy doing my work rehabbing and just working out a lot in the gym and now playing tennis this week and spending time with my kids. So at the end of the day, all of a sudden, you realise another day has gone by and I didn't watch any tennis."
