  • Olympic champion Oussama Mellouli talks in Rio de Janeiro.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Oussama Mellouli, Tunisan Swimmer:

"It's very difficult for all the athletes. I am not speaking for myself. I am directly concerned because some of my friends are Russian athletes. I train with them at USC - like Yulia Efimova, Vlad Morussov, Nikita Lobintsev and they all been banned. Now they are back. I mean all the athletes do not understand, there is not a lot of transparency procedure. We do not understand what's going on, it's very hard, very unfortunate. I love my Russian athletes friends and I hope they can figure this out but I also love clean sports and unfortunately the Olympic movement has been taken by storm by what's going on and what happened with Russia and all these different issues and it's not to be taken lightly and the IOC has to duly address it."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Oussama Mellouli, Tunisan Swimmer:

"For the quality of the water I am not worried about it yet. I am just focussing on the pool. Obviously there is a sanitary issue that should be addressed. It should be taken into consideration but I am not thinking about it, lets see what's going to happen."
