Lazio fans once thanked Man United for battering Roma with brilliant gift

Lazio and Roma's rivalry might well be the fiercest in western European football.
In fact, the Rome derby has become so associated with nasty violence and intimidating ultras in recent years that fans have boycotted the encounter altogether.
Last season for example, a reported 10,000 tickets were sold for Roma's 4-1 win over Lazio - some way short of the 70,000 capacity at the Stadio Olimpico.
So it's no surprise there's more than a hint of schadenfreude when their arch rivals are on the end of a drubbing.
Back in 2007, Manchester United dismantled Roma 7-1 in a Champions League quarter final with one of the most memorable attacking displays of the last decade.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and even Alan Smith were all on target for the Red Devils as they destroyed Francesco Totti and co.
And it appears Lazio fans were quick to acknowledge United's achievement and the joy they took from the scoreline with a brilliant gesture:
That's seven bottles of the finest Italian wine for every goal United scored that famous night.
Points of note:
Their failure to capitalise AS Roma in the first paragraph - accidental? We don't think so
The sheer banter of referring to Roma as ‘the second team of Rome' when Lazio have done absolutely diddly squat for the last 15 years
It's not hard to imagine Sir Alex Ferguson kicking back with one of those bottles of red, basking in his glory.
