Hartlepool fight back for victory over 10-man promotion-chasing Salford

Hartlepool staged a second-half comeback win to edge a 3-2 victory over the 10 men of promotion-chasing Salford City at Victoria Park.
The visitors had made the perfect start when Adam Rooney volleyed home Danny Lloyd’s cross in the third minute.
But Salford were dealt a blow when Matt Green was shown a second yellow card after sliding in on Pools goalkeeper Scott Loach in the third minute of first-half added time.
Hartlepool made the numerical advantage count with three second-half goals, starting with Nicky Featherstone’s delicate finish after 50 minutes.
Nicke Kabamba then found the net from close range after 68 minutes, before Luke James’ deflected effort made it three with 15 minutes remaining.
Salford substitute Emmanuel Dieseruvwe’s late goal was a mere consolation for the Ammies, who end the season in third place – four points adrift of champions Leyton Orient – ahead of next month’s play-off semi-final against either Wrexham or Eastleigh.
Pools ended the season 17th.
