The race to compete at this summer's Olympic games is hotting up as triathletes from all over the world took part in the latest stage of the Triathlon Wold Cup in Mexico.

In the men's event it was Frenchman Aurelien Raphael who came out of the water first as temperatures soared on the morning of the race - With Slovakia's Richard
    Varga hot on his heels.

Simon De Cuyper then joined the leading pack on the final stage and the Belgian broke away to record his first win in the tournament.

In the women's race it was Oliveira of Brazil who led going into the first transition and then with a grueling 24 per cent incline hill to tackle on each of the eight laps of the cycle, the competitors soon found themselves split into two groups.

Bermuda's Flora Duffy then made the decisive move and sprinted clear of the pack on the first lap of the run.

She went on to record her first ever world cup victory.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Flora Duffy, women's winner:

"Oh my gosh it's amazing. I'm starting to tear up I'm so happy. It's been a long road to get here, but it's definitely been worth it, and today was definitely a hard race and a hard course. But I think that's what I needed to really make me just focus and push, and it just totally played to my strengths today."

It is now less than three months to go to the triathlon event at the London games - with Spain next up on the World Cup tour.
