  • Intro:

Cuba's Dayron Robles says he is the favourite to defend his Olympic title in the 110m hurdles but admits he will have to run well to win gold.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Dayron Robles, Cuban 110m hurdles sprinter: "First I only want to think about this first obstacle, which is these Olympic Games I'm competing in. After that, I want to take a very long rest and I have no idea what might happen."

SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Dayron Robles: "If I have to choose, I always consider myself as the favourite! The best will always be me in my opinion! But you have to recognise that this has been a big year for 110m hurdles because the level is high, there are very good athletes like (USA's) Aries Merritt, Jason Richardson, (China's) Liu Xiang, even at my country, Orlando Ortega, who has been running really fast and beat me in one race! That's what I meant by saying, the level at 110m hurdles has been high. Here, anything can happen. I say that among the eight runners to qualify to the final stage, anyone can be there! What I'm certain is that I will have to run really fast to win!"

SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Dayron Robles: "This thing of being Olympic Champion and having the World Record is a consequence of one's work, that has been done well or that is going well. This is not a pressure. These are the Olympic Games, you have to have fun, no matter what responsibility you might have here."
