Less than 24 hours after running in the fastest ever 100m Olympic final, the USA's Justin Gatlin was reflecting on what might have been.

Despite the fact that he set a personal best mark of 9.79 seconds, Gatlin believed he could, and probably should, have run faster.

"It's a little bittersweet, because I look back at my race, at the technical aspects, and I see that I had flaws in my race. Did I go out there with my heart on the line? I did, I went out there and I ran, I think I ran a good race. I competed very well. My coach is happy and proud, but I know once we get back home he's going to look at the race and break it down and say that we could go much faster. Even through the rounds I ran great times, I slowed down, I could have ran faster."
