  • Intro:

Grenada's Kirani James talks about his victory in the 400-metres - and says it was an 'honour' to race alongside Oscar Pistorius.

    Script:

SOUNDBITE (English): Kirani James, 400 metres gold medallist:

"I have seen a lot of guys more talented than me, but they didn't have the determination and the confidence to move forward. So, I mean, you know, one of my jobs is not to let that happen again in my country, keep on inspiring the kids to be whatever they want to be, the best they can be."

SOUNDBITE (English) Kirani James, 400 metres gold medallist (on Oscar Pistorius):

"What he does, I mean, it's amazing, man! It takes a lot of self-courage, self-confidence, and you have to deal with a lot of just to get into the Olympics. My respect goes out to him. He's a guy that I have a lot of respect for because, just going out there and compete with us, I mean, it's an inspiration to all of us. And it's an honour for me to be in a race with him at the Olympics."
