35-year old Abderahim Goumri was killed on Saturday in an accident on the road between Rabat and Temara.
According to the President of the Moroccan Athletics Federation Mohamed Nouri, two other athletes - Youssef Baba and Youssef Ramzi - were on board the same vehicle as Goumri.
The pair were taken to hospital for treatment.
Goumri finished second place in the New York and London marathons in 2007.
