The second semi-final of the Sudirman Cup was staged at the Putra Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

    Script:

World number two Chen had the advantage of beating Jorgensen in their previous encounters in international competitions.

Chen maintained his unbeaten record against the 26-year-old Danish player, winning 21-16, 21-16.

China were 2-0 up and needed just one more point to secure their place in the final.

Next up - the men's doubles between the Chinese Olympic champions and the runner-ups from Denmark.

Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng beat Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe in the final of the London Games.

But on Saturday it was the Danish duo that demonstrated better form, gaining some measure of revenge with a 21-16, 21-17 triumph.

The women's singles match featured Olympic champion Li Xuerui of China and Denmark's young shuttler, Line Kjaersfeldt.

Li dominated and secured the overall win for China after beating 19-year-old Kjaersfeldt in just 26 minutes, 21-13, 21-9.

South Korea booked their berth in the final earlier on Saturday.

The two Asian giants will compete for the 13th championship of the Sudirman Cup on Sunday afternoon (May 26).
