At the Badminton World Championships in Guangzhou, China - world number one Lee Chong Wei faced Du Pengyu of China in the first semi-final.

Despite his opponent putting up a real fight, Chong Wei came out on top with a 20-22 21-12 21-15 victory.

His win sets up a much-anticipated final with arch rival Lin Dan of China, who beat the Malaysian number one in both the 2011 World Championship final and last summer's London Olympic gold medal match.

In the women's semi-finals Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon encountered little resistance as she knocked out India's P.V. Sindhu 21-10, 21-13 to advance to a final showdown with world number one and top-seeded Li Xuerui of China.

And in a hotly contested men's doubles final, Denmark's Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen had to work hard to secure a 21-23, 21-18, 21-18 victory over South Korea's Kim Ki-jung and Kim Sa-rang.
