Tony Moulai finished his international triathlon career with a win at the ITU World Cup event in Tongyeong on Saturday.

The 37-year-old Frenchman announced his retirement from the sport last month and tore away from the leading group to win the final World Cup event of the season.

Moulai pulled away at the start of the final run leg to finish in 1 hour, 51 minutes and 23 seconds. The Frenchman was eight seconds ahead of second placed

Russian Igor Polyanski with Italian Daniel Hofer a further second behind.

Moulai could not hide his delight at the win:

    SOUNDBITE (English) Tony Moulai, winner:
"I decided a few weeks ago to stop my international career. So I was very motivated to come over here and take the win today. That's done so it's the perfect end. I know it's not the WTS (World Triathlon Series), but it's a race and I said to my coach there are no little races."

In the women's event Emma Jackson broke away from a leading group that had put in place a healthy buffer throughout the swimming and cyclnig legs.

Jackson's strong finish meant she crossed the finish line nearly 90 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
