Francois Pervis has defended his 1 km time trial title at the UCI Cycling World Championships in Cali. The Frenchman clocked a time of 59.385 seconds to win his second gold at the Championships after he won the Keirin on Thursday.
The women's 3 km pursuit was won by Britain's Joanna Rowsell. She put in a stunning run to record a personal best time of three minutes 30.318 seconds to beat defending champion Sarah Hammer.
The biggest cheer of the day was no doubt saved for Cali born cyclist Edwin Avila Vanegas who won the men's points race. He scored in five of 16 sprints to earn 70 points which was enough for the gold, much to the delight of the home support.
