Reaction from Russia after the country's athletics federation was suspended by athletics' governing body the IAAF in the wake of the recent doping scandal.

SOUNDBITE: (Russian) Mikhail Butov, General Secretary of Russia's Athletics Federation and Russian council member at the International Association of Athletics Federations:

"The All-Russia Athletic Federation is temporary suspended from participating in IAAF. The temporary suspension means that we can't take part in any international events and competitions."

"I am very sorry that we were unable to reach the result we would have liked. We understand that it is very hard. We know that we have problems and there are not a few of them. We took real steps for their correction. We will keep moving forward. "

"We have to wait for the results of the commission. We probably even need to work with them. And then there will be a decision made by the council for what period this suspension is.
